At The Window Merchants we are pushing the boundaries further than
ever to create the perfect windows for today, and the future. The
combination of profile, trickle vents and glass has made our windows
and doors compliant and will continue to meet the planned changes
in building regulations in the future.
Glass >>>
Low E glass works by acting as a barrier to long wave heat radiation
whilst maintaining a high transmission of short wave radiation. This
allows the natural light from the sun to enter through the window
just like normal float glass but traps the heat generated within the
house reducing heat loss. The glass surfaces ability to radiate long
wave energy is called its emissitivity. The lower the emission the
lower the heat loss.
Furniture >>>
Handles on fire escape windows non-locking with a hinge that allows
the window to open 90 degrees giving a clear opening for escape. Locking
systems must include a facility for night vent positioning or trickle
vents are required
Profile >>>
The frame work be it in upvc or other materials need to achieve a
certain level of thermal efficiency. On pvcu this is achieved by the
chambers segregating the inside from the outside of the profile.
Trickle vents >>>
All new houses, including extensions, require trickle vents in all
windows. Habitable rooms i.e. lounges and bedrooms require a background
ventilation of 8000mm2 of free air. Non habitation rooms i.e. kitchens
and bathrooms 4000mm2 of free air.
